Get Out of the Weeds in 2017

We all get bogged down in the weeds sometimes. Sticking your head up and knowing that that we are bogged down in the weeds isn’t easy. Often, we just continue to be there, perhaps oblivious to the smarter, newer, better ways of doing something.

As husbands, wives, partners, we have less time to be bogged down in the weeds with old practices and processes. We look for the most efficient way to consider childcare or the most effective way to share a vehicle or the most efficient way to commute to work. We are far more open to embracing with change in our personal lives than we are at work.

So what can we do about it?

Think about business change. We either embrace it or continue doing what we’ve always done and hope that it gets us to where we want to be. But is it efficient and does it give us the right outcome?

Getting out of the weeds

In the field of recruitment we tend to get bogged down in the weeds quite often. Tunnel vision kicks in and we only have eyes for filling that role. We tend to focus on simply finding an individual that can fulfill a job description. Place an advert, hit linked in, approach a targeted shortlist and hope that you get a response. If you get lucky and get a response it’s time to act accordingly to take that potential candidate to the next stage.

But what if things were different? What if you didn’t have to place an advert? What if you knew everything about your market before you went to market?

That is possible, it can be achieved. Business growth can be delivered through prior knowledge and understanding. You can step into the ring and truly know what is coming at you, way before your opponent does. Sorry I am a huge boxing fan and couldn’t resist!

Embracing change

By changing the way that we look at attracting the very top talent we can change the way that we engage, inspire and on board the very best talent for our organisations. Looking away from traditional recruitment methods opens the door to change, It also opens the door to efficiency and greater effectiveness. Leaving us more time to sort out how we commute to work and sort out childcare!
